Kennel Project Update
Thanks to our generous Kennel Project Sponsors, we have undertaken exciting improvements at The BIG FIX Uganda in 2020! The project will be carried out in three phases: (1) construction of a new kennel building; (2) construction of a cattery; and (3) modifications to our existing kennel building to create an isolation treatment unit.
We are very grateful to Sarah Boman of Animal Arts Designs in Boulder, Colorado, U.S.A., who volunteered her time to create these drawings and specifications for our new kennel building and our cattery!
The new kennel building will have 12 kennels, 3 play yards, a kitchen, a storage room, and a "real life room" which will be set up like the interior of a house, so that dogs can spend time becoming accustomed to living in a home. The "real life room" will also be a place where visitors and potential adopters can visit with dogs in a more relaxed setting.
The kennel building will have individual drains in each kennel unit, with underground sewage through our existing septic system.

The Cattery. Phase 2 of our project is to construct a cattery building. We are again very grateful to Animal Arts Design for preparing the drawings for BIG FIX's cattery. Construction of the cattery will commence in early October.
Phase 3. Renovation of the Existing Kennel to Create Hospital Isolation Treatment Unit. The final phase of our project will be to renovate the existing kennel building and drainage to create an isolation treatment unit for our hospital, so that patients with infectious diseases such as parvo virus can be treated safely.
