Lucky is a female dog who randomly showed up at a family's home and decided she would stay. The family loved her but in June, when she suddenly had six puppies, the family realized they couldn't care for her properly. After all, they were struggling to feed themselves since the adults had no work and the pandemic has shut down many of the few opportunities to earn money.
So, as a loving guardian would do, they reached out to BIG FIX Uganda and asked for help. We sent one of our team members (in the yellow shirt) to collect Lucky and her little pups and bring them back to the hospital where we could care for her well. The puppies were 3 days old when the little family arrived.
Once the puppies are weaned, BIG FIX will find good homes for them and Lucky will get spayed and we will also ensure that she has a good home, if her former guardians can still not care for her.
Thanks to the kindness of the family and the existence of BIG FIX Uganda, this little brown mamma really is "lucky".
