How your donations are making a difference
As a $25 monthly donor, Danielle DiCicco is the official sponsor of Comfort Dog Project team Susan and Kaka 2. Thanks to Danielle, we are able to provide free veterinary care for Kaka - including annual vaccinations, regular deworming, and monthly health checks. We also provide ongoing support to Susan through monthly guardian meetings, job training opportunities, and counseling whenever needed.
At only 2 months of age, Jojo the cat was very ill and abandoned at The BIG FIX Hospital. Thanks to our vet team, she made a recovery, but then spent 46 days in our cattery as she waited for someone to adopt her. Our animal caretakers noted how much Jojo loved playing and she was very good with children. Nancy, one of our hospital veterinary assistants adopted Jojo and she now lives a great life as house cat with Nancy and her family. Thanks to donations, we are able to provide care and rehoming for animals like Jojo.
Aweko is a wonderful dog who has hind end paralysis due to animal cruelty. Because of her ongoing medical issues, Aweko could not be adopted and needs close monitoring. Thanks to a monthly recurring donation of $55 from Leanna Bacon, Aweko has a wonderful life in permament foster care with Nancy, one of our exceptional CDP graduates, who gives Aweko all the love and care she needs to thrive. Leanna's donation covers the cost of all of Aweko's food and medical care, as well as blankets, bowls, and other supplies Nancy needs to care for her.
Gadahfi beat the odds and is a parvo virus survivor. Thanks to the education his guardian received in school, she knew he needed to be taken to the hospital when he developed diarrhea and vomiting. Gadahfi was confirmed to have canine parvo virus and underwent 8 days intensive treatment in BIG FIX’s isolation unit. The average cost of care for a parvo patient at The BIG FIX Uganda is $200.
Stella is a war trauma survivor and Kica Ber is a rescue dog. Thanks to sponsorship of this Comfort Dog Project 2024 team by Alysa Emden, we were able to provide rehabilitation, medical care, and spay/neuter for Kica Ber, and counseling for Stella, as well as to support them through our 20-week training program.
Jerald is a great dog guardian and loves his dog Snoop very much. He brought her to The BIG FIX Hospital, asking that she be vaccinated, dewormed, and spayed. He didn't have any money to pay, but because a donor had contributed $50, we were able to provide all of these services for Snoop and to give her a dog collar.
Thanks to more than 30 individual donors who contributed to our New Kennel Fund, The BIG FIX Uganda was able to construct a new kennel building so that we could adequately house all of the patients and rescue dogs in need of sheltering.
