According to The World Health Organization (WHO):
"Rabies is a vaccine-preventable disease. The most cost-effective strategy for preventing Rabies in people is by eliminating Rabies in dogs through vaccination.”
BLUEPRINT FOR CANINE RABIES PREVENTION AND CONTROL
“The Blueprint for Canine Rabies Prevention and Control has been developed by global rabies experts to serve as a guide for countries that would like to prevent human rabies by eliminating canine rabies within their borders.” Find out more…
GLOBAL ALLIANCE FOR RABIES CONTROL
The Global Alliance for Rabies Control gifted Rabies Tracker technology and support to The BIG FIX Uganda, which has greatly impacted the effectiveness of our rabies prevention and response program. GARC has a website with many resources, and they provide free online courses including the Rabies Educator Certificate class, which all staff of The BIG FIX are required to complete upon engagement.
UNITED AGAINST RABIES FORUM
The BIG FIX Uganda is a member of the United Against Rabies Forum (UAR), which is supported by FAO, WOAH and WHO (the Tripartite). The United Against Rabies Forum takes a multi-sectoral, One Health approach bringing together governments, vaccine producers, researchers, NGOs and development partners. Their website contains many resources including access to free webinars and courses.
